Marketing is fundamentally where I am at. I have been interested in the communications side of marketing since my uni days, and started my career right at the bottom as a telemarketer. I have progressed through the ranks from account executive working across print, TVC, radio and other forms of advertising, however, have been right on top of digital marketing since going back to Uni in 2002 to get a Masters qualification with multimedia.

The best thing about online is the ability to track campaigns. I have resourcefully learnt the technologies used with online to best manage and driect strategic and tactical campaigns for companies I have worked with.

The best use of my marketing talents with online can be broken down into the below disciplines:

 

SEO and web statistics.

This can either be right from the start of a develpment project or improving the performance of an existing site. The are key ares I have learnt over the last 5 years with ranking sites high on the Google organic index, as well as managing PPC campaigns that have yielded dramatic increases in business activity within websites.

 

You can tell a lot from statistics, but you dont need to go around droppi g buzz words or knowing the latest and greatest tool for measuring and interpretting stats. A good marketing mind will always know what to do with simple stats, and in the past I have delivered increased visitors in the tens of thousands, I have increased online sales in the hundreds of thousands and I have kept vistors comming back and spending longer on sites due to the understanding and implementation of user centric rich content.

 

Content Management

 All I can say, is god bless Content Management systems. I have been tinkering around with websites for over ten years. Back in the day, I was using Dreamweaver's first edition and basic HTML to get my sites up and running. The best websites are content driven. The first consideration of any website is the content. Above all, this will be how Google page ranks the site and primarily how a website user will value their engagement with the site.

For me conntent development really is a mixture between mutlimedia, and over my career, I have created and managed the below discourses on a website:

   * Copywriting, article and column creation

   * Graphic design and development

   * rich multimedia such as streaming video and flash content

   * writing purely for SEO

   * link building and online banner advertising
